"Walk the land. Come to know one small patch of earth intimately. Stand on that ground until it becomes dear to you and then open your arms to the whole wide world."
Ann Pelo, The Goodness of Rain
Walk the Land, with herbalist Melanie Isles
Part of our role as educators taking children outdoors is knowing the wild edible and medicinal plants and native species that we exist with - their names, their uses, their growing habits, their benefits and also their potential dangers.
Common Digs is pleased to host our friend and herbalist, Melanie Isles of Full Bloom Herbals for an informative walk and discussion of the plants we can find in this bio-region. We will learn about plant safety, ethical harvesting, plant identification, uses of local plants and growing your own in your home or schoolyard garden.
Located at Sandy Beach Park, Calgary. Space is limited to 12 participants.
April 23, from 1pm - 3pm
